Windows 10 1809: Microsoft Reveals Features It's Dropping In October 2018 Update

Microsoft establishes its list of features that are being eliminated or disapproved in the next version of Windows 10.

With the Windows Update October 10, 2018 almost ready to ship, Microsoft has announced the features that are cutting for the next version or that is no longer being developed.

For Windows Insiders there are likely to be few surprises in the list of features that are removed from Windows 10, version 1809.

"Each version of Windows 10 adds new features and functionality, we also occasionally remove features and functionality, usually because we've added a better option," Microsoft explained.

The Phone Companion application, which helped share content between mobile devices and PCs, will be removed from Windows 10 PCs after the update. Microsoft recommends using the Phone page in the Settings application to synchronize a mobile device with the PC.

The company has also been working on new applications for the integration of Android and iPhone with Windows 10 through the application Your Phone for Windows 10 and the application Your Phone Companion on Android.

It also removes Business Scanning because there are no devices that support this function, and the Hologram application, which is being replaced by the Mixed Reality Viewer.

Microsoft has previously transferred information from the Secure Platform Module (TPM) management console to the device security page in the Windows Defender Security Center.

The old clipping tool to take screenshots will still be available in Windows 10, but it is one of the applications that Microsoft has now stopped developing actively.

His new tool for screenshots is called Snip & Sketch, once called Screen Sketch, and is being tested with Windows Insiders now.

"You can start Snip & Sketch directly and start a snip from there, or just press WIN + Shift + S. Snip & Sketch can also be started from the 'Screen Trim' button in the Action Center," says Microsoft.

"We are no longer developing the Snipping Tool as a separate application, but we are consolidating its functionality in Snip & Sketch".

It also stopped working in the OneSync service for mail, calendar and people applications, since now a synchronization engine has been added to the Outlook application that accomplishes the same purpose.

The complementary device APIs to unlock a PC through a nearby portable device using Bluetooth will not be developed further, because the Microsoft partners did not adopt the method.
